Wisseloord Estudios – Holanda
El Estudio Wisseloord es un estudio de grabación en Hilversum, Holanda. Fue inaugurado oficialmente el 19 de enero de 1978 por el príncipe Claus.
Los estudios fueron fundados por la empresa Philips, para que fuese capaz de lanzar a artistas de su sello discográfico Polygram y grabar en un entorno profesional. Inicialmente había tres estudios, en la actualidad hay cinco.
Durante los primeros días de existencia de estos estudios fueron utilizados principalmente por los artistas holandeses, pero más tarde también los músicos internacionales como Elton John, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, U2 y ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA utilizaron dichas las instalaciones.
En los estudios Wisseloord fue grabado el álbum de ELO «SECRET MESSAGES».
El álbum fue originalmente planeado como un álbum doble, aunque la compañía discográfica del grupo consideró que el gasto sería excesivo en una época en la que los problemas derivados de la crisis del petróleo de los años 80 eran patentes. Además, el álbum fue grabado de forma digital y planeado como el primer disco compacto de ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA antes de «Balance of Power». Seis de las canciones descartadas tras la reducción del álbum fueron publicadas como cara B de varios sencillos musicales y en el box set «Afterglow».
«Secret Messages», tal y como su título sugiere, está repleto de mensajes ocultos en forma de backmashing: varios mensajes son obvios; mientras que otros no. Supone, además, la segunda respues irónica de JEFF LYNNE a las acusaciones que le inculpaban de incluir mensajes satánicos en sus primeros trabajos con la Electric Light Orchestra, realizadas, en gran medida, por fundamentalistas cristianos. En Gran Bretaña, la portada de «Secret Messages» presentaba una advertencia a los menores de edad debido a los mensajes ocultos.
Louis Clark volvió a conducir la sección de cuerdas en el álbum, mientras que el violinista Mik Kaminski reapareció en una grabación de ELO tras su última incursión en la banda con el álbum de 1977 «Out of the Blue», tocando un sólo de violín en el tema «Rock ‘n’ Roll is King». Tras completar el álbum, JEFF LYNNE despidió al bajista Kelly Groucutt, quien posteriormente demandó a Lynne por supuestas regalías perdidas.
«Secret Messages» fue promocionado a base de tres sencillos: «Rock ‘n’ Roll is King», «Secret Messages» y «Four Little Diamonds». En Estados Unidos también se publicó «Stranger» como sencillo. «Rock ‘n’ Roll Is King» supuso el último sencillo en alcanzar el Top 20 de las listas de singles británicas. Por su parte, «Letter from Spain» fue utilizada como música de fondo en varios anuncios de las Olimpiadas organizadas en Barcelona, España, en 1992.

Wisseloord Studio is a recording studio in Hilversum, the Netherlands. It was officially opened on January 19, 1978 by Prince Claus.
The studios were founded by the Philips company, so that it would be able to release artists from its Polygram record label and record in a professional environment. Initially there were three studies, currently there are five.
During the first days of existence these studios were mainly used by Dutch artists, but later also international musicians such as Elton John, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Tina Turner, U2 and ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA used the facilities.
In the Wisseloord studios the ELO album "SECRET MESSAGES" was recorded.
The album was originally planned as a double album, although the group's record company felt that the expense would be excessive at a time when the problems stemming from the 1980s oil crisis were glaring. Furthermore, the album was digitally recorded and planned as the first compact disc of ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA before "Balance of Power". Six of the songs discarded after the album's downsizing were released as B-sides to various music singles and on the "Afterglow" box set.
"Secret Messages", as its title suggests, is full of hidden messages in the form of backmashing: several messages are obvious; while others don't. It is also the second ironic response by JEFF LYNNE to the accusations that he was accused of including satanic messages in his early works with the Electric Light Orchestra, performed largely by Christian fundamentalists. In Britain, the cover of "Secret Messages" featured aWarning to minors due to hidden messages.
Louis Clark returned to lead the string section on the album, while violinist Mik Kaminski reappeared on an ELO recording after his last foray into the band with the 1977 album "Out of the Blue", playing a solo violin on the theme "Rock 'n' Roll is King". Upon completing the album, JEFF LYNNE fired bassist Kelly Groucutt, who subsequently sued Lynne over alleged lost royalties.
"Secret Messages" was promoted based on three singles: "Rock 'n' Roll is King", "Secret Messages" and "Four Little Diamonds". In the United States, "Stranger" was also released as a single. "Rock 'n' Roll Is King" was the last single to reach the Top 20 of the UK Singles Chart. For its part, "Letter from Spain" was used as background music in various advertisements for the Olympics organized in Barcelona, Spain, in 1992.
