NUEVA YORK – El nombre de la Electric Light Orchestra (United Artists) es sinónimo de conceptos progresivos en el rock. Desde su primer sencillo de éxito en Estados Unidos, que incluía una ingeniosa adaptación de la Quinta Sinfonía de Beethoven, hasta el álbum «Eldorado», aclamado por la crítica, la ELO ha estado a la vanguardia de las ideas musicales en el lenguaje del rock.

La ELO está liderada por Jeff Lynne, antiguo miembro de Move, y Bev Bevan, batería. Lynne y Bevan decidieron formar ELO hace unos tres años, cuando Move se «disipó». Lynne es el guitarrista y vocalista principal y es el autor de la mayor parte del material del grupo. Es la fuerza detrás de «Eldorado» y el gran single del álbum, «Can’t Get You Out of My Head». Lynne afirma: «Elaboro los conceptos casi totalmente en mi cabeza y los arreglo para las grabaciones con nuestro teclista Richard Tandy».

«‘Face The Music»

Hoy en día, la completa musicalidad de ELO, unida a una espontaneidad desenfrenada, crea un espectáculo total comparable al de los grupos más sofisticados que existen.

NEW YORK - The name Electric Light Orchestra (United Artists) is synonymous with progressive concepts in rock. From their first US hit single, which featured a clever adaptation of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, to the critically acclaimed album "Eldorado", ELO has been at the forefront of musical ideas in the rock idiom.
ELO is fronted by former Move member Jeff Lynne and drummer Bev Bevan. Lynne and Bevan decided to form ELO about three years ago, when Move "dissipated". Lynne is the guitarist and lead vocalist and is the author of most of the group's material. He's the force behind "Eldorado" and the album's big single, "Can't Get You Out of My Head." Lynne says, "I work out the concepts almost entirely in my head and arrange them for recording with our keyboardist Richard Tandy."
"'Face The Music"
Although ELO have earned a reputation as a concept-oriented band, Lynne describes their new album, "Face The Music," as "a collection of tunes," with the single "Evil Woman" being the tune that is gaining the most popularity. "Face The Music" is selling faster than any of their previous albums, indicating a growing acceptance of ELO's advanced rock music.
Most of ELO's popularity is centered in the United States. His frequent appearances on the television shows "In Concert" and "Midnight Special" have undoubtedly contributed to his success in the United States. They have appeared on "Midnight Special" 14 times in the last two years.

Lynne notes, "The audience seems to love the way our string players jump around like crazy." She adds that all three musicians were classically trained, but now play by ear. They had to do it to keep up with the demands of rock. Today, ELO's complete musicality, coupled with unbridled spontaneity, creates atotal spectacle comparable to that of the most sophisticated groups that exist.
