Póster SECRET MESSAGES promo Japón
Este es el póster promocional japonés del LP de vinilo SECRET MESSAGES 25AP 2640 de ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA. Fue publicado a mediados de 1983 previo a la publicación del álbum.
El carácter japonés de color blanco entre paréntesis sobre fondo azul significa «un título tentativo». Es sólo una letra, pero ese es su significado. El texto de color rojo en la parte inferior significa «se aceptan pedidos anticipados ahora».
Podría entenderse que CBS Sony Japan aún no había decidido el título oficial en japonés de este álbum cuando se imprimió este póster.
Cabe la posibilidad de que hubiesen dado un título japonés completamente diferente al álbum SECRET MESSAGES, al igual que ocurrió cuando dieron el extraño título japonés «SAVIOR OF AURORA» al álbum A NEW WORLD RECORD.
Por otro lado, en la parte inferior izquierda del cartel se aprecia un carácter Kanji de color negro similar a una «escalera». Significa «mes». (Como nota al margen, este carácter Kanji también se utiliza para representar «la luna», y también «lunes»).
A la derecha de la «escalera», se ve otro carácter Kanji de color negro similar a una «ventana». Significa «día». (Como nota al margen, este carácter Kanji también se utiliza para representar «el sol», «la luz del sol», «el domingo» y «Japón»).
Justo a la derecha de la «ventana», se aprecian claramente dos caracteres Kanji japoneses de color negro. Estos significan «¡¡¡Salga!!!» o «¡¡Comience a vender!!»
Sin embargo, no hay números impresos antes del mes y el día. Por lo tanto, este póster no confirma la fecha de lanzamiento de este nuevo álbum.
Es muy interesante el hecho de que CBS Sony imprimiera y distribuyera este póster promocional antes de decidir el título oficial del álbum en japonés y la fecha de lanzamiento.
Otra curiosidad más:
El título de este álbum en inglés, originalmente es el plural «Secret Messages», pero el título del álbum en japonés está el singular «Secret Message», desde el inicio de la publicación del álbum en 1983 hasta la actualidad (25AP2640, 25KP971, 35DP72, 30AP2538, CSCS6036, SRCS9850, MHCP1162, SICP30900, SICP31313, todas las ediciones japonesas). Esto también ocurre en el 7″ prensado en japonés de Secret Messages. El título de la canción en inglés impreso en el inserto de la imagen y en la etiqueta es plural «Secret Messages», pero el título de la canción en japonés es singular «Secret Message». La razón podría ser consecuencia de que la pronunciación del plural «mensajes» es algo difícil para los japoneses.

This is the Japanese promotional poster for the vinyl LP SECRET MESSAGES 25AP 2640 by ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA. It was published in the middle of 1983 prior to the publication of the album.
The white Japanese character in parentheses on a blue background means "a tentative title". It's just a letter, but that's its meaning. The red text at the bottom means "accepting pre-orders now".
It could be understood that CBS Sony Japan had not yet decided on the official Japanese title for this album when this poster was printed.
It is possible that they gave a completely different Japanese title to the SECRET MESSAGES album, just like when they gave the strange Japanese title "SAVIOR OF AURORA" to the album A NEW WORLD RECORD.
On the other hand, in the lower left part of the poster there is a black Kanji character similar to a "ladder". It means "month". (As a side note, this Kanji character is also used to represent "the moon", and also "monday").

Just to the right of the "window" two black Japanese Kanji characters are clearly visible. These mean "Get out!!!" either"Start selling!!"
However, there are no numbers printed before the month and day. Therefore, this poster does not confirm the release date of this new album.
It is very interesting that CBS Sony printed and distributed this promotional poster before deciding on the official Japanese album title and release date.
Another curiosity:This album's English title is originally plural "Secret Messages", but the Japanese album title is singular "Secret Message", from the beginning of the album's release in 1983 to the present (25AP2640, 25KP971, 35DP72, 30AP2538, CSCS6036, SRCS9850, MHCP1162, SICP30900, SICP31313, all Japanese editions).
This also occurs on the Japanese 7" pressing of Secret Messages. The English song title printed on the image insert and on the label is plural "Secret Messages", but the Japanese song title is singular " Secret Message". The reason could beconsequence of the fact that the pronunciation of the plural "messages" is somewhat difficult for the Japanese.
