Marie Fredriksson & Mr. Blue Sky

Llevo semanas sujetando una irrefrenable necesidad de rendir un sentido homenaje a alguien y hoy por fin… he encontrado el pretexto.

Hace ya un mes que perdimos a una artista «gran…diosa» del panorama Rock Pop y somos muchos los que nos apenamos con su desaparición.

La cantante sueca Marie Fredriksson se nos fue con tan solo 61 años, la mitad de los cuales los pasó brillando y regalándonos su voz, junto a su compañero Per, en esa formación que todos conocemos como Roxette.

Marie lo tenía todo… una familia estupenda… una versátil y maravillosa potencia vocal, la fuerza y exótica presencia en el escenario de una pantera sueca albina y una legión de fans por todo el mundo que la adoraban desde sus inicios allá por el 84.

Acompañada siempre en ese dúo por Per Gessle, al que particularmente considero un músico brillante y sorprendente. Declarado fan de Tom Petty, hijo musical escandinavo de The Beatles y con más de 80 millones de discos en su haber. Con una vida compositiva extensa y muy loable más allá de la marca Roxette; Como le pasa a nuestro Jeffe más allá de ELO.

Ese maldito “Lynne syndrome” con secundarios efectos que tan bien reconocemos de pseudo ninguneo u ostracismo al que ya nos hemos acostumbrado y que nos relega al desván de las minorías melómanas silenciosas.

La idílica vida de glamour & agasajos de Marie se derrumbó un 11 de septiembre de 2002, como un año antes lo hicieran las Torres Gemelas. Un inoportuno tumor cerebral ponía en inminente peligro su existencia.

Aun así Marie afrontó sin rendirse y con coraje su enfermedad, como nos lo cuenta en detalle en su libro autobiográfico “Listen to my heart”, publicado desde junio en nuestro idioma.

La cantante fue capaz de recuperarse milagrosamente como para reaprender sus temas olvidados y volver a interpretarlos sobre los escenarios de medio mundo.

Hasta en cuatro ocasiones pude disfrutar de la música de Marie & Roxette en Madrid. Dos antes, pletórica y dos después de aquel fatídico día marcado ya para siempre por las desgracias. En la última ocasión celebrando sus 30 años de giras, ostensiblemente mermada por la enfermedad… pero más aclamada y querida que nunca!!

A sus seguidores nos queda su discografía, el recuerdo de su carismática presencia micrófono en mano y el ejemplo de la lucha & energía de un ser humano, ya sin lentejuelas, por vivir y ser feliz…

Y nos queda también su libro dónde entre sus 40 temas favoritos aparece uno al que hace mención y que me sorprende poco o nada… “Mr. Blue Sky” de ELO.

Gracias Marie por ese ejemplo vital y esa voz tuya fascinante y encantadora que nos acompañará siempre.

I've been holding for weeks an irrepressible need to pay a heartfelt tribute to someone and today I finally… found the excuse.
It's been a month since we lost a "great…goddess" artist from the Rock Pop scene and there are many of us who are saddened by her disappearance.
Swedish singer Marie Fredriksson left us at just 61 years old, half of which she spent shining and giving us her voice, along with hers, her partner Per hers, in that formation we all know as Roxette .
Marie had it all…a wonderful family…a marvelous versatile vocal power, the strength and exotic stage presence of an albino Swedish panther, and a legion of fans around the world who have adored her since her early days back in the day. the 84.
Always accompanied in that duet by Per Gessle, whom I particularly consider a brilliant and amazing musician. Declared fan of Tom Petty, Scandinavian musical son of The Beatles and with more than 80 million records to his credit. With an extensive and highly commendable compositional life beyond the Roxette brand; As it happens to our Jeffe beyond ELO.
That damn “Lynne syndrome” with secondary effects that we recognize so well from pseudo-noneo or ostracism to which we have become accustomed and which relegates us to the attic of silent music-loving minorities.
Marie's idyllic life of glamor & entertainment collapsed on September 11, 2002, just like the Twin Towers did a year before. An untimely brain tumor put her existence in imminent danger.
Even so, Marie faced her illness without giving up and with courage, as she tells us in detail in her autobiographical book “Listen to my heart”, published in our language since June.
The singer was miraculously able to recover to relearn her forgotten songs and interpret them again on stages around the world.
Up to four times I was able to enjoy the music of Marie & Roxette in Madrid. Two before, full of joy, and two after that fateful day marked forever by misfortunes. On the last occasion celebrating her 30th year of touring, ostensibly diminished by illness… but more acclaimed and loved than ever!!
Her followers are left with her discography, the memory of the charismatic presence of the microphone in her hand and the example of the struggle & energy of a human being, now without sequins, to live and be happy…
And we also have her book where, among her 40 favorite songs, there is one that she mentions and that surprises me little or nothing… “Mr. Blue Sky” from ELO.
Thank you Marie for that vital example and that fascinating and charming voice of yours that will always be with us.
"Heaven Only Knows" what it has gained with your presence, some of us here below know what we have lost… me in particular… my favorite singer.
