IDLE RACE en «Le Metro» 1969
Una fan de IDLE RACE llamada Michele Briney publicó recientemente esta fotografía de la banda en Facebook. Posiblemente fue realizada por ella misma en junio de 1969 en la sede de «Le Metro» en la ciudad de Birmingham.
En esa imagen se ve a un joven JEFF LYNNE junto a Dave, con Roger apenas visible detrás de su batería y a Greg detrás del micrófono de JEFF.
Al parecer podría tratarse de uno de los últimos conciertos que ofreció JEFF con los IDLE RACE.
Entre los comentarios que se han recogido tras la publicación de esta fotografía, hemos escogido estos dos por lo curioso de los mismos:
«Recuerdo a Jeff Lynne y a los Idle Race tocando allí a finales de los sesenta. Solía dejar su amplificador en el suelo para conseguir un gran sonido de guitarra».
«Acabo de ver el concierto de Jeff Lynne BBC en Hyde Park y me trajo todos los maravillosos recuerdos de Le Metro. Fue el primer club al que yo y mi pandilla de la escuela fuimos cuando teníamos 16 años. Siendo inocentes niñas de la escuela del convento, ¡pensamos que estábamos en el cielo! Mis amigos están dispersos por todo el mundo ahora, pero todos recuerdan nuestras maravillosas noches de viernes en Le Metro. Todos nos reuníamos en el Kardomah a las 8 pm y luego nos íbamos a Le Metro para ver algunos grandes grupos en vivo y tantos romances que comenzaron en ese club. Recuerdo que Idle Race tocó muy bien y tantos otros grupos que tuvieron éxito. 1967-1969 y luego pasamos a Opposite Lock porque pensamos que era más sofisticado. Música maravillosa y recuerdos maravillosos de aquellos días embriagadores en los que la vida parecía perfecta».

An IDLE RACE fan named Michele Briney recently posted this picture of the band on Facebook. Possibly it was made by herself in June 1969 at the headquarters of "Le Metro" in the city of Birmingham.
In that image a young JEFF LYNNE is seen next to Dave, with Roger barely visible behind his drum kit and Greg behind JEFF's microphone.
Apparently it could be one of the last concerts offered by JEFF with the IDLE RACE.
Among the comments that have been collected after the publication of this photograph, we have chosen these two because of their curious nature:
"I remember Jeff Lynne and the Idle Race playing there in the late sixties. He used to put his amp down to get a big guitar sound."
"I just saw the Jeff Lynne BBC concert in Hyde Park and it brought back all the wonderful memories of Le Metro. It was the first club me and my gang from school went to when we were 16. Being innocent girls from the school of the convent, we thought we were in heaven! My friends are scattered all over the world now, but they all remember our wonderful Friday nights at Le Metro. We would all meet at the Kardomah at 8pm and then go to Le Metro for seeing some great live bands and so many romances that started in that club I remember Idle Race played really well and so many other bands that were successful 1967-1969 and then we moved on to OppositeLock because we thought it was more sophisticated. Wonderful music and wonderful memories of those heady days when life seemed perfect."
