Antes de entrar a formar parte de Deep Purple tuviste una oferta para unirte a la banda de Jeff Lynne, ELO. ¿Qué nos puedes contar al respecto?
Al desintegrarse The Move, Jeff Lynne y Roy Wood me invitaron para formar parte del recién formado ELO y hacer de ella una banda de tres cantantes principales, Jeff, Roy y Glenn. En ese momento yo había dejado Trapeeze y con ELO estuvimos componiendo algunas canciones que inicialmente las iba a cantar yo. Pero la gente de Moody Blues (con quienes compartía disquera) me convenció de regresar a Trapeeze antes de haber grabado una nota con ELO. Quién sabe qué hubiera pasado si me quedaba con ellos.
¿Escuchaste «Zoom», el ultimo disco de ELO?
Si, me encantó. Aparte a Jeff Lynne lo considero un genio y es brillante como compositor y persona.

Before joining Deep Purple you had an offer to join Jeff Lynne's band, ELO. What can you tell us about it?
When The Move disintegrated, Jeff Lynne and Roy Wood invited me to join the newly formed ELO and make it a band of three lead singers, Jeff, Roy and Glenn. At that time I had left Trapeeze and with ELO we were composing some songs that I was initially going to sing. But the people at Moody Blues (with whom I shared a label) convinced me to return to Trapeeze beforeafter having recorded a note with ELO. Who knows what would have happened if I stayed with them.
Did you listen to "Zoom", ELO's latest album?
Yes I loved it. Apart from Jeff Lynne, I consider him a genius and he is brilliant as a composer and person.
