Estaba pensando, si ya nadie controla la nave de la ELO. Si no hay un piloto que dirija la nave en la dirección correcta. Si los que deben velar por la integridad de los derechos de imagen y sobre todo de todo lo que se pueda editar en el futuro de la ELO…. Esto puede convertirse en una feria.
Ya se venden en el mercado toallas, camisetas, zapatillas, gorras, mecheros… y un largo etc. de artículos con la marca no oficial ELO y, aunque quizás para el cada vez más menguado número de fans no duela, la imagen que se ofrece, sobre todo echando la vista atrás, es deplorable. Hemos pasado de un control y una calidad sin parangón a un desbarajuste digno de un mercadillo decadente donde todo está disponible sin control alguno. Y posiblemente con todo en orden y con sus derechos adquiridos, pero a mí particularmente me da la impresión de estar paseando por el rastro.
Lo que antes nunca hubiera salido de fuentes oficiales, ahora lo edita cualquier discográfica o emisora de radio en CD, y al parecer con un sonido que «el barbas» (con cariño) nunca hubiera permitido. Mientras haya quien tenga la cartera abierta….
Sí, ya lo sé. O esto, o nada. Pero, nada de nada. Porque el aspecto del «barrio» es desolador… Ni siquiera resuenan el eco de las tristes pisadas de los que se atreven a pasar por allí. Ni siquiera el último habitante se volvió un momento para decir «adiós» a los que nos quedamos mudos viéndole marchar, escondido entre los murmullos y las sombras de las nubes del último chaparrón…
Seguiremos manteniendo la bombilla encendida, aunque sus filamentos brillen anaranjados con el paso del tiempo. Parece que nosotros, los fans, somos los únicos Apóstoles que podemos seguir difundiendo la Buena Nueva, y así será mientras quede uno para contar las hazañas del GENIO.
Hasta entonces, y a partir de ahora, tengo la impresión de que veremos a muchos feriantes montando sus quioscos con todo tipo de artículos y abalorios con los que puedan hacer su «agosto». Los tiempos están cambiando. Nada volverá a ser como antes. Pero nosotros seguiremos aquí, oteando el cielo en busca de la nave de JEFF. Tampoco nos queda mucho más.

Unofficial ELO-branded towels, T-shirts, sneakers, caps, lighters, and a long list of items are already being sold in the market, and even though it might not hurt the increasingly dwindling number of fans, the image presented, especially looking back, is deplorable. We have gone from unparalleled control and quality to a mess worthy of a decadent flea market where everything is available without any control. And possibly with everything in order and their rights acquired, but personally, it gives me the impression of strolling through a flea market.
What never would have come out of official sources before is now being released by any record label or radio station on CD, and apparently with a sound that "the bearded one" (with affection) would never have allowed. As long as there is someone with an open wallet...
Yes, I know. It's either this or nothing. But, nothing at all. Because the appearance of the "neighborhood" is devastating... Not even the echo of the sad footsteps of those who dare to pass by resounds there. Not even the last inhabitant turned around for a moment to say "goodbye" to those of us who remained mute watching him leave, hidden among the murmurs and shadows of the last downpour...
