Son ya 20 años que GEORGE HARRISON nos dejó a consecuencia de un cáncer de pulmón que, a consecuencia de la metástasis dañó su cerebro. Una de sus últimas frases fue “todo lo demás puede esperar, pero la búsqueda de Dios no puede demorarse un segundo”. Murió en paz, el 29 de noviembre de 2001 a las 13:20 h.

A finales de los 90’ George Harrison hizo frente a un cáncer de pulmón, resultado de tantos años fumando. Estando recuperándose en su casa de Friar Park, un hombre lo agredió con un cuchillo resultando también herida Olivia.

El matrimonio pasó el último día del siglo XX recuperándose en el hospital, quedando uno de los pulmones de George dañados permanentemente. En cuanto al agresor, la justicia británica lo dio por demente y por lo tanto inimputable.

A principios de 2001 se confirmó que el cáncer había regresado: una de las mejores clínicas del mundo en materia oncológica detectaron un tumor en uno de los pulmones y lograron extirparlo. Un mes más tarde descubrieron que había aparecido un tumor en el cerebro.

George, quien desde hacía décadas había abrazado la meditación trascendental y la búsqueda de Dios, concluyó que su paso por el mundo material había llegado a su fin. Por aquel entonces estaba componiendo y grabando demos para un disco que probablemente terminaría, pero intentaría dejarlo lo más acabado posible. Su amigo y colega JEFF LYNNE trabajó a su lado. Luego, concluiría el trabajo junto a Dhani, el hijo de George y Olivia.
