A subasta 82 diseños de vestuario de Bobbie Mannix ilustrados a mano para XANADU

Costume designer Bobbie Mannix created many of the lavish outfits for the fantasy musical film XANADU, according to reliable sources from Xanadu, The Illustrated Story. More than 260 costumes were designed, and many of the original sketches are still preserved. Five workshops of patternmakers and seamstresses worked over the six-month preparation period for the film.
“Olivia looked fabulous in all her costumes for the movie, but if I remember correctly, she especially loved the outfit of her Muse character,” said Bobbie. Working with Olivia was a joy: “We had a great time at the fittings, and she worked very hard learning to skate and perfecting all the moves. The entire team worked tirelessly to learn how to skate.”
Eighty-two of these costume designs, hand-illustrated by Bobbie Mannix for Xanadu, using mixed media including paint and pen on illustration paper—some mounted on gray board—are going up for auction.
The characters depicted include Kira (Olivia Newton-John), Danny McGuire (Gene Kelly), and members of the ensemble. The artwork shows some fading, tears, corner holes, and adhesive residue on the reverse due to being previously mounted.
