Distingo las figuras de algunos de los privilegiados espectadores que presencian, de nuevo, las pruebas de sonido e iluminación para el próximo show de JEFF LYNNE’S ELO y no deja de sorprenderme la actitud de los mismos, por cuanto ya serán muchas las veces que se hayan visto en esa tesitura en la que apenas nadie se imagina. Y es que encontrarse con seis sillas aparcadas en medio de tan singulares y famosos lugares, centradas, y sin que nadie te haga sombra, tiene su «aquel», sin contar con la distancia con respecto al escenario, supongo que para distinguir de forma homogénea y sin distorsión el sonido que, por otra parte ha de llegar «limpio de polvo y paja» al no albergar cerca a ningún fan exaltado de emoción dando brincos e intentando cantar al unísono, sin conseguirlo, aquello que suena en esos precisos instantes, aunque, hay que reconocer que, la calidad sonora en directo amortigua cualquier interferencia de este tipo. Incluso la tuya propia. Es alucinante.

Pienso que los presentes actúan y simulan ser un jurado de una actuación que ya de por sí tiene ganada la mayor de sus puntuaciones, y por ello andan enredados un poco, cada cual en sus cosas, sin prestar la máxima de sus atenciones a lo que acontece frente a ellos por repetitivo, siendo un deseo incontenible para quienes muy pronto ocuparán esos lugares y que en ese preciso momento arden en deseos de poder estar ahí mismo, frente a JEFF.

La estampa es impresionante a la vez que evocadora, ya que refleja los últimos compases del final de una composición musical mayor que cualquier sinfonía clásica, a excepción de la obra por antonomasia ELDORADO. Ni la «Quinta de Beethoven» supera lo que esta imagen representa para el mundo de la música en un momento tan sumamente especial. Quizá por ello, los afortunados presentes, aunque parezcan ajenos a lo que tienen delante suyo, reconozcan, aunque no lo manifiesten, que muy pronto todo quedará en el recuerdo, como quedan algunos sueños, que no todos, sino más bien pocos, y por ello han de inmortalizarlos en foto y publicarla para hacerla inmortal. ¡Qué suerte para nosotros!…

Quien ocupaba la segunda de las sillas, gentilmente, se ha desplazado a conversar con sus dos compañeros de la derecha, prestando así su asiento a cada uno de nosotros, los FANS de ELO/JEFF. Todo un detalle. Y ese ha sido el preciso momento en el que se ha tomado la instantánea para que cada cual se imagine, a sí mismo, por un instante sentado allí, disfrutando del increíble panorama que se presenta frente a él… Irrepetible e incomparable.

Envidia, sí. Envidia sana. Envidia de aquellos que lo han podido disfrutar por última vez en vivo y en directo, aún cuando nosotros también lo hemos disfrutado en otro tiempo. Con sus aciertos y desaciertos, con todo un exceso de gratitud hacia su público entregado a quien ya es LEYENDA de la música a nivel mundial y estelar con su nave espacial eterna, con la que tanto hemos viajado.

GRACIAS por mostrarnos esa silla vacía y todo el conjunto que la acompaña, porque yo he sido capaz de sentarme ahí mismo durante unos minutos y contemplar, minuciosamente el Universo completo desde la misma nave que un día hizo volar tantos sueños y puso banda sonora a mi vida. Ya pronto no nos quedarán más que estas fotos tan inéditas como fantásticas y sugerentes con las que poder volver a rememorar lo que nos pareció sólo un sueño por lo increíble del mismo. Un sueño irrepetible, como lo es la propia existencia del creador de tan sublimes melodías, el GRAN JEFF LYNNE. LA LEYENDA…

Por último, y después de traspasar la línea de la mitad de este TOUR 2024, tengo la impresión de que JEFF ha mejorado con respecto a su inicio dando muestras de su calidad, primero humana y hacia sus FANS, agradeciendo que lo elevaran a lo más alto, y segundo en cuanto centrado y vocalmente se refiere dentro del show aunque, no por ello, pensemos que podemos abusar de su esfuerzo, que lo habrá detrás de cada espectáculo y que se acumula uno tras otro, creyendo que es factible pedirle más y llevándole a Europa. Ha cumplido con creces su promesa y merece su descanso y privacidad. Ha demostrado que, aún cuando llegan a faltar las fuerzas, un paso más al frente hace mover cientos de miles de seguidores tan sólo para verle de nuevo, aunque ésta sea la última vez, sobre todos los escenarios en los que aparezca, porque tan sólo su presencia es símbolo de ARTISTA ÚNICO, de GENIO INDISCUTIBLE, de FIGURA SIN IGUAL, de MÚSICO INCOMPARABLE E IRREPETIBLE.

I can make out the figures of some of the privileged spectators who, once again, witness the sound and lighting tests for the upcoming JEFF LYNNE'S ELO show, and I can’t help but be amazed by their demeanor. They’ve likely found themselves in this scenario many times, one that most people can't even imagine. And there they are, six chairs parked in the middle of such unique and famous venues, perfectly centered, without anyone obstructing their view. That in itself is quite something, not to mention the distance from the stage, which I assume helps them hear the sound in a balanced, undistorted way. The sound must reach them "clean and pure," with no overly excited fans nearby jumping around or attempting to sing along—though, admittedly, the quality of the live sound drowns out any such interference, even your own. It’s amazing.
I imagine the people present are like judges evaluating a performance that’s already guaranteed the highest of scores. That’s probably why they seem slightly distracted, each wrapped up in their own thoughts, not giving full attention to what’s happening in front of them, possibly due to the repetition. Meanwhile, those who will soon occupy these seats are burning with desire to be right there, face to face with JEFF.
The scene is both impressive and evocative. It captures the final moments of a greater musical composition—greater than any classical symphony, save for the quintessential work, Eldorado. Not even Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony surpasses what this image represents for the music world at such a special moment. Perhaps that’s why those fortunate enough to be present, even if they seem indifferent, surely recognize—even if they don’t express it—that very soon, this will all become a memory, like some dreams do. But not all of them, just a few, and that’s why they must immortalize this moment in a photo and share it, making it eternal. How lucky for us!
The person sitting in the second chair has kindly moved over to chat with two of their companions on the right, offering their seat to each of us, the FANS of ELO/JEFF. What a gesture. And that was the very moment the photo was taken, so that each of us can imagine ourselves sitting there for just a moment, enjoying the incredible view before us. Unrepeatable and incomparable.
Envy, yes. A healthy envy. Envy of those who could experience it live one last time, even though we also enjoyed it in the past. With its hits and misses, with overwhelming gratitude toward its devoted audience, from someone who is now a LEGEND in the world and beyond with their eternal spaceship, with which we’ve traveled so far.
THANK YOU for showing us that empty chair and everything surrounding it, because I’ve been able to sit right there for a few minutes and thoroughly take in the entire Universe from the very ship that once flew through so many dreams and provided the soundtrack to my life. Soon, all we’ll have left are these rare, fantastic, and evocative photos that allow us to relive what seemed like only a dream because it was so incredible. An unrepeatable dream, just like the existence of the creator of such sublime melodies, the GREAT JEFF LYNNE. THE LEGEND.
Finally, as we’ve passed the halfway mark of this 2024 TOUR, I get the sense that JEFF has improved compared to the start, showing his quality—first in his human connection with his FANS, thanking them for raising him to such heights, and second in terms of his focus and vocals during the show. However, this doesn’t mean we should take advantage of his efforts—efforts that must accumulate with each performance—thinking it’s feasible to ask for more and bring him to Europe. He’s more than fulfilled his promise and deserves his rest and privacy. He’s shown that even when the strength isn’t there, one more step forward is enough to move hundreds of thousands of fans who will go anywhere just to see him again, even if it’s for the last time. His mere presence is a symbol of a UNIQUE ARTIST, an UNDISPUTED GENIUS, an UNPARALLELED FIGURE, an INCOMPARABLE and IRREPLACEABLE MUSICIAN.
